Mount Carmel College of Nursing’s Master of Science Program in Nursing Administration is designed for career-minded, baccalaureate-prepared registered nurses who are ready to assume even greater responsibility and reap the benefits of expanded career opportunities. This program prepares the professional nurse to advance their careers by assuming managerial and administrative roles. This advanced professional will apply knowledge and skills to provide vision and leadership within an ethical framework in health care environments. This program is offered in a hybrid model with both online and face-to-face coursework. An administrative internship serves as the capstone of this program. Two years of recent nursing experience is recommended for admission consideration.

Student Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the Nursing Administration track, graduates will have the knowledge and skills to:

  1. Assume advanced roles in nursing leadership
  2. Lead the development of competent healthcare to diverse populations
  3. Use epidemiological, social and environmental data to draw inferences for the development of healthcare services
  4. Facilitate the use of evidence-based practice in nursing services
  5. Facilitate the development and implementation of programs on health promotion or disease prevention
  6. Evaluate nursing delivery systems to assure quality outcomes
  7. Demonstrate leadership in nursing and healthcare services
  8. Use ethical decision making in relevant practice roles
  9. Collaborate with other disciplines to achieve quality outcomes in nursing and healthcare services
  10. Promote nursing as a profession and discipline
  11. Demonstrate scholarly inquiry about nursing and health systems through verbal and written communication
  12. Analyzes ethical, legal, and social factors influencing policy and the interdependence and impact of policy on healthcare practice across discipline
