NURS 585 - Assessment and Management of Mental Health Disorders III This is an online course with a virtual/in person immersion.
This course provides the psychiatric nurse practitioner with expansive information associated with diagnosis, treatment, management, scope/standards of practice and legal implications of psychiatry. Through didactic and clinical experience in this course, students will integrate their previous knowledge of diagnosis and assessment to facilitate appropriate treatment and management of individuals with mental illness. Medication management, treatment interfering factors, continued therapy, community outreach, PMHNP scope/standards, interprofessional collaboration, professional growth and laws/regulations will be the highlights of the course. High-level concepts and knowledge needed to assess and manage mental illness are covered with multifactorial outcome-based interventions including medication, complementary and alternative therapies, interventional psychiatry, mental health education, and health promotion. 7 credit hours 200 Clinical Hours
