The Nursing Administration track prepares the professional nurse for practice roles in nursing administration/management. The course work builds on the foundation of strong professional practice.
Students graduating from the Nursing Administration track will be eligible for American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) certification examination for Nurse Executive, Advanced.
Student Learning Objectives
Upon completion of the Nursing Administration track, graduates will have the knowledge and skills to:
- Assume advanced roles in nursing administration
- Lead the development of competent health care services to diverse populations
- Use epidemiological, social, and environmental data to draw inferences for the development of health care services
- Facilitate the use of evidence-based practice in nursing services
- Facilitate the development and implementation of programs on health promotion and disease prevention
- Evaluate nursing service delivery systems to assure quality outcomes
- Demonstrate leadership in nursing and health care services
- Use ethical decision making in relevant practice roles
- Collaborate with other disciplines to achieve quality outcomes in nursing and healthcare services
- Promote nursing as a profession and a discipline
- Demonstrates scholarly inquiry about nursing and health systems through verbal and written communication in nursing and health systems

Notes:
- NURS 501 AND NURS 505 must be taken the first semester.
- In Spring 2016,NURS 505 will transition to HUMN 505 as an 8-week course ofered the first half of the semester. This course is recommended to be taken during the Fall Semester of the student’s first year, but will be offered as an option in Spring and Summer if sufficient enrollment permits.
- NURS 598 - Scholarly Manuscript Completion : if the scholarly manuscript is not satisfactorily completed at the time of course completion, students must enroll in NURS 598 (see policy ).
- When completing the preceptored practicum, students must meet the compliance requirements of all agencies.
