NURS 578 - Acute/Emergent Care III


This course provides the acute care nurse practitioner student with a culminating practicum experience in order to refine the knowledge and skills needed to deliver acute/critical care to adult clients across the lifespan within the context of acute care setting. Emphasis is placed upon the student’s increasing independence in the application and provisions of evidenced based clinical decision making, problem identification and management, health promotion, and client & family health education and counseling. Multi-faceted outcome-based interventions including health education and health promotion will be utilized in the provision of care within a multidisciplinary team approach in order to provide holistic care to the patient and family.
Prerequisites: NURS 501 , NURS 502 , NURS 503 , NURS 504 , NURS 505 , NURS 520 , NURS 521 , NURS 522 , NURS 576 , NURS 577  (Corequisite: NURS 579 )

(5 credit hours practicum = 250 hours clinical)
