Nursing Education

The Nursing Education track prepares the professional nurse for practice roles in academic settings and/or staff development. The course work builds on the foundation of strong professional practice. The curriculum is designed to provide the opportunity into the education of nurses.

Students graduating from the Nursing Education track will be eligible with the academic requirements for National League for Nursing Certified Nurse Educator examination.

Nursing Education Student Learning Objectives

Upon completion of the Nursing Education track, graduates will have the knowledge and skills to:

1. Assume advanced nursing roles in education
2. Develop culturally appropriate programs that respond to the educational & health care needs of diverse populations
3. Use epidemiological, social, and environmental data to draw inferences for the development of nursing education programs
4. Design health promotion and disease prevention educational programs
5. Evaluate nursing education program(s) and policies to assure quality outcomes
6. Demonstrate leadership in nursing education
7. Use ethical decision making in relevant practice roles
8. Collaborate with other disciplines to achieve quality outcomes in nursing education
9. Facilitate the use of evidence-based practice in nursing curricula
10. Promote nursing as a profession and a discipline
11. Demonstrates scholarly inquiry through verbal and written communication in educational scholarship
