This program prepares licensed registered nurses, who already have a Master of Science in Nursing degree, for another exciting level of practice – the role of the professional nurse in nursing administration/management. Master’s prepared nurses wanting to take their professional calling to another area of nursing will find that the nursing administration courses offered through the program will enhance their practices. This Certificate Program builds on previous knowledge obtained in the Master of Nursing program.Two years of recent nursing experience is recommended for admission consideration.
Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the Nursing Administration track, graduates will have the knowledge and skills to:
- Assume advanced roles in nursing administration
- Lead the development of competent health care services to diverse populations
- Facilitate the use of evidenced based practice in nursing services
- Use epidemiological, social, and environmental data to draw inferences for the development of health care services
- Facilitate the development and implementation of programs on health promotion and disease prevention
- Evaluate nursing service delivery systems to assure quality outcomes
- Demonstrate leadership in nursing and health care services
- Use ethical decision making in relevant practice roles
- Collaborate with other disciplines to achieve quality outcomes in nursing and health care services
- Promote nursing as a profession and a discipline
- Demonstrate scholarly inquiry about nursing and health systems through verbal and written communication in nursing and health systems
- Analyzes ethical, legal, and social factors influencing policy and the interdependence and impact of policy on health care practice across disciplines (updated January 24, 2017)
