The Advanced Placement Program (APP) enables transfer students with the right combination of previous college credit the opportunity to complete the BSN degree in five semesters. Acceptance to the APP is limited, with approximately 40 students selected each year for this highly competitive program. Consideration is given to strong academic performance, high achievement in science courses and successful completion of all prerequisite courses. A minimum 3.00 cumulative GPA (combined) from all previous institutions attended is required to apply for APP. Applicants are not guaranteed admission to the Program.
Accepted students complete the sophomore nursing curriculum during Summer Session (3 courses in 12 weeks). This exceptionally demanding and intense program begins in mid-May and concludes in early August. It is comprised of all sophomore level nursing courses: NURS 204 , NURS 205 , and NURS 206 . Successful students then continue to junior level coursework and clinical experiences in the Fall Semester. Currently enrolled students should contact the Director of Records and Registration for additional details and prerequisite requirements.
To be eligible to apply for APP, a student must successfully complete the following freshman and sophomore prerequisite courses with a grade of ‘C’ or higher. Coursework will transfer to MCCN based on equivalency.
